Big Sur, California's central coast

Big Sur is a stunning section of coast line that falls under the State Park system that care-takes parts of California's wildness for the public.  The road is a two-lane, windy (not unlike some of the west coast drives) passage that weaves itself between the pacific ocean and the Santa Lucia Mountains.  Big Sur, as I knew it, was the title of a Kerouac book and a place where Henry Miller lived and loved.  The coast has also been immortalised by American photographer Edward Weston.

Our route along the coast (in lilac).  Ok, now for some Weston images of this wonderful landscape.  Read an interesting article on his relationship with Big Sur here
